Jones the Grocer: Embodying ‘Zero Waste’

Extending Our Jones Philosophy

At Jones, our philosophy is to be an emporium sourcing and stocking fine foods from around the world from small batch artisan producers who follow sustainable, fair trade and ethical processes.  As a brand we have been quite conscious of the impact of everything we do on the environment, from using only biodegradable materials in our retail packaging, ensuring that the ingredients we use in our kitchens are from sustainable sources and that all waste is disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way. We, however, know that we still have a lot of ground to cover to become a 360-degree sustainable business.

The Approach

At Jones the Grocer, we are taking a realistic and strategic approach to reducing our impact on the environment and the local community. Our approach will be to reward customers for bringing their own packaging and on the flip side to charge customers for packaging (to highlight the cause).  The charged amount will go towards a charity.

Our idea is to encourage our customers to BYO coffee cups, bags, lunch boxes and reward them for it.

The Challenge

We know that this is going to be a challenge as people are very used to the comfort and convenience, however, we are committed to starting our own little revolution.

How Will We Do It?

We plan to use education, activations and innovative reward schemes to get more people to live a better lifestyle.
